Housing and Community Development

En Espaņol

The City of Tampa's Housing and Community Development Division (HCD) is part of the Growth Management and Development Services Department.  HCD has been  the catalyst for Tampa's  new affordable housing opportunities. Many of the older existing neighborhoods experienced increased levels of vacancy and structural blight.

Today, the Housing and Community Development Division, located at the western entrance to Ybor City, is responsible for the implementation of the City's affordable housing programs.   These programs are designed to assist residents with housing repair, to preserve the City's housing stock, and to provide first-time homeownership opportunities of rehabilitated and newly constructed homes.

HCD staff can assist citizens residing in the City of Tampa with information on affordable housing opportunities. In addition to housing, HCD participates in and supports many social services and economic development projects that continue to have a positive impact in our community.

The City has continued to commit its federal funds to non-profit organizations for the redevelopment of these older neighborhoods and has partnered with private developers and lenders to continue our commitment to revitalize Tampa's neediest communities.
